Insecurity: Katsina Elders Request Additional NSCDC Personnel

November 23, (THEWILL) – The Katsina Elders Forum has called for deployment of Agro-Rangers Armed squad personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, to curb insecurity in the state and enhance farming activities.

Chairman, Katsina Elders forum, and Turakin Katsina, Senator Abba Ali made this known when he paid a courtesy visit to the commandant General, Nigeria Security, and Civil Defence Corp at the NSCDC headquarters in Abuja.

Senator Abba Ali who spoke through the secretary of the forum, Alhaji Mohammed Aliyu noted that with the support of the Agro Rangers, farmers will be able to cultivate their farm produce without fear of attack by Bandits and other criminal elements.

He stressed that the government through the elders’ forum has been of great support to the corps through the provision of some operational equipment and the recruitment of over three thousand vigilante members to support security agencies in the state.

The commandant general, Nigeria Security, and Civil Defence Corps, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi thanked the elders for the visit and called for more support from the public, noting that the current security challenges facing the country was asymmetric which according to him can only be curbed through intelligence gathering.

Dr. Audi stressed that the Agro Rangers of the corps were well trained and posted to all states across the federation to protect farmers and boost agricultural yield for food sufficiency.

He further reiterated the commitment of the corps in tackling security challenges, the provision of manpower training and welfare to the corps.
