BEVERLY HILLS, May 13, (THEWILL) – These are certainly not the best of times for Polish forward, Robert Lewandowski, prolific striker for Bavarian champions, Bayern Munich. His clinical form in front of goal made it believable this season that he was on course to break the goal-scoring record of iconic footballer Gerd Muller. But, injuries while on international break playing for Poland sidelined him to put that expectation on ice.

However, he recovered in good time to return and continue from where he stopped, putting the conversation of his good form to break the record back in the limelight. Now, with just two goals away from the record, Lewandowski has had to leave training on Thursday morning due to an undisclosed issue bordering on injury.

Much to the striker’s distress, he was seen walking out of the training ground this morning with a knock being the most obvious reason, although the Bavarian hitman left the pitch on his feet but looked distraught.

Lewandowski was followed by the team’s doctor Dr. Jochen Hahne and physio Gianni Bianchi as he exited the training grounds and headed to the hotel. His emotions can understood as he was only just returning to active football and the Euros 2020 competition is already knocking on the door.

It will not be dicey for Bayern to do without him for what is left of the season as they have already won the league but the timing was off for the Polish striker who was on course to break Muller’s goal-scoring record and was looking forward to returning with the Polish senior men’s national football team to lead the charge on the attack front. It is hoped that his exit was merely precautionary to avoid a relapse.
