January 13, (THEWILL) – Benue state governor, Samuel Ortom has described president Muhammad Buhari’s administration as disastrous, even as he promised to do anything within his powers to stop any presidential aspirant that is promising to replicate Buhari’s policies when elected in 2023.

The governor who made the declaration at the Benue Peoples House, Makurdi on Thursday while swearing in Commissioners and Special Advisers, noted that the APC government has nothing good to offer Nigerians.

“Today, the Buhari-led APC government is drawing us back to 1950s when there were grazing routes which cows are giving preference to human beings”.

“I’m highly disappointed that president Buhari over the spate of insecurity in the country.. Let him send his men to come and sleep one day here with the over 1.5 million Internally Displaced Camp in Benue state and feel the condition they are in.”

Governor Ortom who said he wants the IDPs to return to their ancestral homes, expressed dismay that over 160 security agents were killed in Benue state by herdsmen in the course of duty.

“I will make sure that any presidential aspirant promising to continue with Buhari’s legacies of ‘killing’, ‘raping’ ‘displacing’ and ‘maiming’ Nigerians will fail to realise his ambition; noting that South Africa with a population of about 6,000 people have 50,000 megawatts of electricity, while with about 200 million people have 5,000 megawatts.”

He pointed out that once the federal government as led by president Buhari has failed to deliver in the center, nothing tangible would come from the states and local government council areas; on president Buhari to use the remaining months in office to better the lot of Nigerians.

Governor Ortom further disclosed that the sum of N4 billion has been saved in PENCOM accounts from deductions from workers and government sources, assuring that the issue of pension arrears of retirees will soon be a thing of the past.

He charged the appointees to resist the temptation of pilfering with government resources under their care as anti graft agencies would go after them without his intervention.

The eight Commissioners that took oath of office are Barr William Agbatar in charge of Trade and Investment; Dr Kyester Ikyenge, Agriculture and Natural Resources; Engr Uungwa Sachia, Works and Transport; Mike Inalegwu is in charge of Information, Culture and Tourism; Dr Ogoma Aja for Science and Technology.

Others are Dr Saawuan Tarnongo for Education, Mr Teryima Nguher for youth and Sports, Dr Oyiwana for Water Resources and Environment with five Advisers also sworn in respectively.

Responding on behalf of others, Dr Ikyenge thanked governor Ortom for finding them worthy of appointment and assured of loyalty and dedication to deliver on their mandate for the good of the state.
