Iheanacho’s Assists and Goal give Leicester a 3-0 Win over Zorya Lugansk in Group G

BEVERLY HILLS, October 22, (THEWILL) – Leicester’s England duo James Maddison and Harvey Barnes and Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho all scored as Leicester City began their UEFA Europa League campaign 2020/2021 with a routine 3-0 win over Ukrainian Premier League side Zorya Luhansk.

In their first meeting with Ukrainian opposition, Leicester had to withstand a sharp start from their Group G rivals at home on Thursday. However, the men from the King Power stadium claimed a dominant victory after an inspired performance from Iheanacho.

The bright start of the away side could have given them the lead especially through central attacking midfielder Vladyslav Kabaev, but they were wasteful in front of goal. And, they paid a costly price for their wastefulness.

First, Maddison tapped a ricocheting ball into an empty net to give Leicester the lead, before Barnes doubled their advantage with a cool dink over the onrushing keeper.

Nigerian forward Iheanacho had set up both of these goals and got on the scoresheet himself in the second half when he arrowed home from 12 yards to crown a scintillating performance on the night.

Leicester had very little to worry about after that and held on to take an important 3-0 win and all three points on offer.

The result means that Leicester take a commanding position in Group G, while Zorya’s difficult away run in Europe continues.
