Ighalo, Noble Only Players Yet To Hit Tangier Camp

November 10, (THEWILL) – Al-shabab’s Odion Jude Ighalo is yet to join teammates after being recalled to the squad by coach Gernot Rohr.

Nigeria’s senior men’s national football team, the Super Eagles, have been converging at their training camp in Tangier, Morocco ahead of their World Cup qualifying encounter against Liberia on November 13.

The previously expected Victor Osimhen of Napoli arrived on Tuesday night, bringing the total number of invited players for the final group games of the Qatar 2022 African qualification series against Liberia and Cape Verde to 22.

Enyimba goalkeeper John Noble has also not reported to camp. He was called to replace Omonia Nicosia’s Francis Uzoho, who took ill.

Ighalo is returning to the national squad after announcing his retirement at the end of the 2019 African Cup of Nations tournament in Egypt more than two years ago.

According to sources, Osimhen will keep the number nine shirt, which was previously worn by Ighalo, while the Al-Shabab returnee will wear the number 25, which he wore at Old Trafford.

New Watford signing goalkeeper Maduka Okoye, Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi, Rangers stars Leon Balogun and Joe Aribo, Cyprus-based Shehu Abdullahi, full-back Zaidu Sanusi and Nantes winger Moses Simon are among the players already in camp.

The others are Leganes centre-back Kenneth Omeruo, Villarreal’s Samuel Chukwueze, captain Ahmed Musa, Kevin Akpoguma and Jamilu Collins, Torino winger Ola Aina, CSKA Moscow’s dribbling genius Chidera Ejuke, and imposing Genk goal-king Paul Onuachu.
