BEVERLY HILLS, June 11, (THEWILL) – A member representing Wase federal Constituency of Plateau State, Ahmed Idris Wase, has been elected unopposed as the deputy speaker of the House of Representatives.
The 54 years old lawmaker emerged unopposed after his nomination by two honourable members.
There was no other nominee for the position from the opposition party in the house and thus no need for an election.
This has ensured the APC’s preferred candidates in both chambers of the 9th National Assembly have emerged as the leaders of the red and Green chambers.
Ahmed Lawan succeeds Bukola Saraki as Senate President while Ovie Omo-Agege replaces Ike Ekweremadu as Deputy Senate President.
In the House, Femi Gbajabiamila was elected Speaker and he takes over from Yakubu Dogara while Wase is succeeding Yusuf Lasun as Deputy Speaker.
