I Will Be Back On The Pitch Soon – Harry McGuire

October 13, (THEWILL) – As he continues his recovery from a calf injury suffered against Aston Villa prior to the international break, Manchester United captain Harry Maguire has told supporters to expect to see him in the matchday squad of the Red devils soon.

The 28-year-old was forced to withdraw from England’s World Cup 2022 qualifiers in October after suffering an injury on September 25. The calf injury forced him to limp off the field, and it was soon disclosed that he would be out for “a few weeks.”

Maguire was given the international break to help speed up his recuperation, and while his return to the pitch is still a long way off, he is pleased with his progress. The England international confessed that he has yet to train with his teammates due to the injury, but that he will be “back soon.”

“Yeah it’s getting there,” Maguire began.

“I still haven’t trained yet with the squad, but I am getting better, I am progressing as I should be. It is obviously a frustrating injury for me to get, but I am progressing and I will be back on the pitch soon.”

United will travel to Kelechi Iheanacho’s Leicester City on Saturday and the visitors will be missing their captain, who will be unable to make an impression against his former side.

After that, the Red Devils will face Atalanta in a difficult Champions League matchup before facing Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, and Manchester City in a tough string of fixtures.

Following the Manchester derby, there will be another international break. All eyes will be on Maguire and when he will be able to play in the backline. After Maguire’s partner Raphael Varane returned to Carrington with an injury, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is already facing the challenge of picking a makeshift back four for the trip to Leicester.

As THEWILL reported, the Frenchman suffered a groin injury while on Nations League duty, and had to be replaced during the first half of France’s 2-1 triumph over Spain in the final.
