August 02, (THEWILL) – The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, on Monday, 2nd August, 2021 approved the posting of DCP Tunji Disu as the new Head of the Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT).
DCP Disu will be replacing Abba Kyari, who is currently under suspension over indictment by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), over allegations linking him to a $1.1 million fraud committed by the internet fraudster, Abbas Ramon also known as Hushpuppi.
A statement by Force Police Public Relations Officer (FPRO), CP Frank Mba, said: “The posting of the officer is on the heels of Management’s decision to fill the leadership gap within the IRT and refocus the Unit for better service delivery”.
He said “The IGP has charged the new Head of the IRT to demonstrate his professional competence in his leadership of the Unit. He also assured citizens that the IRT will remain focused on the discharge of its duties in line with national statutes and international best practices.”
The posting happens with immediate effect.
