September 18, (THEWILL) – Nigerian singer, Ahmedu Augustine, better known as Blackface, says the media killed his brand.
Blackface, a member of the now-defunct music group, Plantashun Boiz, made this known in a recent interview on With Chude.
Blackface said, “The media has succeeded in bringing the brand Blackface Naija to ground zero.
“No Nigerian or any award [-giving body] has given me one award. I’m the one they don’t want to talk about; but it’s all good.
“I came into the music industry to make music for the fans. I did not come to the industry because I wanted to get rich.
“But as far as the people embrace the music, then who cares?
“I don’t worry about the media. I just make music for them. I talk about it; creepy agents everywhere. They are all creepy agents and I make music with them.”
