July 13, (THEWILL) – Nigerian international Chidera Ejuke will play for Hertha BSC in the upcoming campaign after joining the Blue-Whites on loan from CSKA Moscow.
Ejuke played 65 competitive games since the summer of 2020 in the Russian top flight, amassing 10 goals and assisting in eight others for a total goal contribution of 18. The attacker has eight caps for the Super Eagles so far after being called to the senior Nigerian national team in October 2020 due to his performances.
Fredi Bobic, Hertha’s Sporting Director said of the Nigerian: “Chidera has proved himself in several European leagues already, and brings good skills alongside speed and versatility. We’re sure that he’ll improve our game with his abilities.”
For Ejuke, it is a fresh challenge. He said: “I’m looking forward to playing for Hertha, to the Bundesliga and this special challenge. I want to do my bit in helping the club achieve its goals.”
Prior to moving to Russia, the right-footed attacker competed in the Eredivisie for SC Heerenveen, where he assisted on 16 goals across 29 games in the 2019/2020 campaign. Prior to that, Ejuke, who previously featured locally for Gombe United, played with Valerenga Fotball in Norway from 2017 to 2019, making 69 appearances while tallying 15 goals and 6 assists.
