Harry Kane Admits Poor Form, Dismisses Transfer-Related Reasons

October 13, (THEWILL) – Harry Kane has agreed his performances for club and country this season have not been up to par. However, he dismissed allegations that his poor form is the result of a failed summer transfer to Manchester City.

After requesting to leave Spurs, the 28-year-old appeared ready to join the Citizens, but the two teams were unable to reach an agreement before the transfer window closed.

He has struggled to find the back of the goal for the north Londoners since, and failed to score for the first time in 15 qualification meetings in Tuesday’s 1-1 draw with Hungary at Wembley Stadium.

When asked if the failed transfer is the cause of his dip in form, Kane said, “It’s natural that people think like that, people are entitled to their opinion,” Kane began. “At the end of the day I’m my own biggest critic and put pressure on me to perform. Everyone who knows me knows I’m confident whenever I play.

“Like I said, it was the first game in 15 that I haven’t scored so it’s not the end of the world. Everyone who knows me well knows I’m confident every time I play so I’ll be ready for the next one.

“I’m in a good place! Obviously I know there’s been a lot of talk about me, but at the end of the day, I’ve still scored nine goals this season. I’m working as hard as I can for the team, when the chances come I’m confident I’ll put them away.”

Kane also claimed that his head is “clean” following his highly public feud with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, and that, while his recent performances “have not been there,” he is still giving “110 percent” for both his club and his country.

“I’m as clear as anything, a lot of noise around me, when you’re a high level sportsman you could expect that.

“Every time I step on the field I give 110% for club and country. Performances for club and country maybe haven’t been there last few weeks but I’m confident in my ability – sometimes that’s just the way it goes.”
