Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez’s divorce case is going to be put on hold.
E! News has confirmed that the estranged couple’s divorce could be dismissed because neither Berry nor Martinez has proceeded with filings. Berry and Martinez filed for divorce last October, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the cause of the split. They share a 2-year-old son together, Maceo. A source tells E! News that the hold up in their divorce is not because of a reconciliation; it’s because of “continued discussions about money and Maceo.” The former couple had a prenuptial agreement in place.
“It is with a heavy heart that we have come to the decision to divorce,” Berry and Martinez told E! News in a statement in October. “We move forward with love and respect for one another and the shared focus of what is best for our son. We wish each other nothing but happiness in life and we hope that you respect our and, most importantly, our children’s privacy as we go through this difficult period.”
Prior to announcing their split, rumors about the couple’s status swirled as Berry was spotted without a wedding ring on several occasions. She also seemed to forget her anniversary. “Thank you for reminding me,” she said while promoting her CBS show, Extant. “I gotta get something fast. I gotta get something fast.”
She added, “Wow, two years. That’s big for me.”
After calling it quits, Berry and Martinez were spotted out and about together. But it was Martinez’ apparent wedding ring that caused eyebrows to raise and even more speculation about if they had already reconciled. It turned out, however, that they were just good friends. “Everything is really lovely and amicable between the two,” an insider told us.
