BEVERLY HILLS, July 23, (THEWILL) – At least six suspects facing trial for culpable homicide have been freed by gunmen when they raided the correctional services vehicle used to transport suspects on Thursday. The incident occurred inside the premises of the Plateau State High Court in Barkin-Ladi Local Government Area.
At least 18 gunmen, who arrived in motorcycles, launched their operation around 10.am, shooting sporadically before taking the six suspects they came for.
Four other suspects in the correctional services van were taken into custody by troops of the Special Task Force, Sector 4 command and taken to Police Divisional Headquarters in Barakin-Ladi.
The Plateau State police commissioner, Edward Egbuka, toured the court’s premises after the incident.
Spokesman of the police in the state, Mr. Gabriel Ubah said the police has launched an investigation into the incident and assured the fleeing suspects and their accomplices will be found and brought to justice for their alleged crimes.
