September 22, (THEWILL) – Gunmen on Wednesday killed two police officers at a security checkpoint in Nachi community, Enugu state.
Three other officers sustained severe gunshot injuries.
Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Daniel Ndukwe, said the Command has launched an investigation into the incident and is tracking down the assailants.
The incident, which occurred around 9 am on Wednesday, is the latest in what appears to be a resurgence in attacks on security personnel in the South-East.
On Monday, unidentified gunmen shot and killed three policemen at a checkpoint in Ukaegbu/Oraifite Street, Ezeiweka, Awada, Onitsha in Anambra state.
