September 13, (THEWILL) – Gunmen suspected to be members of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), have reportedly chased Seniors students of Comprehensive Secondary School, out of examination hall.
Comprehensive Secondary School, Nkume, is in Njaba Local Government Area of Imo State.
The students and staff were stopped by enforcers of the Sit-at-home order while they were about to write the West African Examination Council (WAEC) English Language Examination.
THEWILL gathered that the gunmen came into the school around 8.30 am, asking students, staff and invigilators to vacate the school premises. They also burnt all the motorcycles parked in the premises.
Narrating her experience, one of the students, Ngozi, said: “Unknown gunmen came into the hall to ask us to stop our exams and chased us out. They also burnt bikes.”
“They started shooting repeatedly and insisted that no examination would be allowed to go on.
“They destroyed some motorcycles and shot continuously until the students and teachers ran away”, a resident source added.
