BEVERLY HILLS, April 21, (THEWILL) – Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted three construction workers working on the Ikaram-Akunnu-Akoko highway linking Akoko Northwest and Akoko North East local governments areas.

Sources told THEWILL that the gunmen struck on Tuesday afternoon and shot sporadically before taking the workers away.

Ondo police spokesman, ASP Tee-Leo Ikoro, confirmed the abduction and said all security agencies had been deployed to the forests to ensure release of the victims.

He said hunters were also engaged to help comb the forests.

The highway is a major gateway for travellers plying the North and the South West region.

The State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Raimi Aminu, had last week inspected the 16 kilometre road and promised it would be completed in 60 days.

Aminu said the abduction would delay construction of the road
