November 08, (THEWILL) – A Group, Lagos Democrats, has condemned what it called an attempt to link former National Deputy Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Bode George with the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC describing it as a dirty politics carried too far.

In a statement issued Monday and signed by its Secretary, Mr Adebowale Johnson, Lagos Democrats said “We read with dismay what Dr Adetokunbo Pearse wrote about Chief Bode George. It is an ugly, disgusting outburst. It is uncalled for .

“The allegations are outrageous and obviously libelous. They are full of inaccuracies and deliberate distortions”.

Pearse is aspiring to be the PDP State Chairman in Lagos.

The Group said Chief Bode George’s wife was never appointed to the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agencies, NDLEA by President Muhammadu Buhari, but that she was appointed based on merit by former President Goodluck Jonathan.

“This much is in the public domain. Facts are facts, you can’t distort the truth and think you will get away with it.

“Again, we all know that Chief Bode George does not belong to APC nor does he fraternize with anyone within its fold. As a matter of fact, Chief George is the fiercest critic of APC in Lagos state.

“Linking Chief George to the ruling party without an iota of proof is a vicious undercurrent of politics pushed too far. It is absolutely ridiculous”, the Group said.

Lagos Democrats said it condemns in its entirety what it called the unguarded statements of Dr Pearse.

“Chief George continues to spend his personal resources to strengthen the party and enhance its influence for the past 21 years. His efforts are evidently sabotaged by enemies within the PDP fold who show up every four years to shop for positions. Dr Pearse’s recent outburst is a desperate reminder of one with a losing hand clutching for anything to survive.

“Party politics should not degenerate into libelous, unproven allegations just to score a cheap point. Dr Pearse will surely have his day in court”, Lagos Democrats said.
