Gov Sanwo-Olu Hints At Secret Moves To Give Igboho Soft Landing

THEWILL APP ADS 2

July 24, (THEWILL) – Lagos State’s Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Saturday revealed that behind-the-scene moves were being made concerning the arrest and trial of the self-styled leader of Yoruba Nation agitators, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho.

Sanwo-Olu disclosed this to newsmen on Saturday after voting at Polling Unit 019, Ward 08, Ikoyi II, in ongoing Local Government/Council Areas election in the State.

THEWILL reports that Igboho and his wife were arrested at Cardinal Bernardin International Airport, Cotonou, while on their way to Germany on Monday night.

They were brought before the Cour D’Appel De Cotonou on Thursday.

While the court ordered Igboho be remanded in prison custody for alleged Immigration offences, his wife (a German) has been released.

However, since the news of his arrest broke out, governors in the South-West geopolitical zone of Nigeria have kept mum over the matter.

South-West governors are: Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo), Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti), Gboyega Oyetola (Osun), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), and Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos).

Responding to questions on the presumed silence of the governors on the matter on Saturday, Sanwo-Olu, said that people were working behind the scene on Igboho’s matter, stating that the case did not have to be a public conversation.

He said: “These are very difficult times for all of us. I can assure you that people are working behind the scene. At occasions like this, it’s not by how many Press people you call.

“I’m aware that a lot of people have responses that they are doing quietly and privately and it doesn’t have to be a public conversation.”
