BEVERLY HILLS, August 14, (THEWILL) – Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has accused the leadership of the main opposition party in the state, the All Progressives Congress, APC, of staging an attack on the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, campaign team while on a campaign visit to Apana, ward 10 of Etsako West Local Government Area.
The campaign train had earlier suspended its campaign to Uzairue in Auchi on Tuesday after receiving reports of impending attack on supporters of the Governor.
The PDP resumed campaign in the area on Thursday but was attacked just before it arrived the venue of the campaign rally at Apana, ward 10.
Governor Obaseki expressed displeasure at the disrespect and level of impunity being displayed by the APC leadership in the state.
He laid the blame of the attack squarely at the feet of the former National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole.
Men of the Nigerian Police Force attached to the PDP campaign team, however, foiled the attack by the suspected thugs.
