June 13, (THEWILL)- Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, has promised that he will be careful to follow the will of God for the state in his succession plan as his administration gradually wound down in 2023.
Emmanuel, who made the promise in a recent interaction with the media to commemorate his six years in office as the Governor of the state, pleaded with detractors to allow him complete his mission in the state according to the purpose of God.
He vowed that he will not give in to pressure and go against the will of God, saying that he had no clue to whom God wants as his successor at the moment.
“Please allow me to work and go. No matter the pressure; the hand of God will not change. I will not be like Saul in the Bible because I don’t want to be punished by God, I will give power to whom God wants me to.
“I don’t have a hand in who becomes Governor in 2023 so don’t count me in. God will do His will at the right time but if you want to support me: I will tell you… let’s wait and allow God to do what He wants to do, which will be the best.”
The Governor, who stated that his emergence as Governor was divine as he never bargained to take over from his predicessor until it was obvious that he was the one God wanted at that time, said he had nothing against any individual’s aspiration, saying that any qualified person is free to aspire for the exulted office.
“I have nothing against any individual’s aspiration. Every aspirant is my brother but I will wait on God to do His will,” he stressed.
Udom Emmanuel however frowned at insults on his person from some quarters warning that such was against the teachings of the Holy Bible.
“As the Governor, I am the father of this state, I am anointed to oversee this state. When you insult me, you are touching God’s anointed prophet and you might incur the wrath of God,” he warned.
