BEVERLY HILLS, May 30, (THEWILL) – Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, has described his decision to construct an international worship centre as born out of a strong conviction from God.
He advised those castigating his decision to see the project as more spiritual than physical.
The Governor, who stated this during a Thanksgiving Service to end a week of activities marking the sixth year of his reign as the Governor of the state explained that he was raising an altar for God, to negate evil altars earlier raised in the state.
“I am raising an altar that will negate every negative altar earlier raised. Into the altar, the world shall come. You will understand better when the time comes,” he explained.
He also used the occasion to debunk the rumours that Ibom Air was owned by him and some Lagos-based businessmen, saying the state government owned the 100 percent.
On the seeming slow pace in industrialising the state, Udom said it was not wise for a state to own industries; but it should partner with private individuals and provide the enabling environment in terms of security, peaceful atmosphere for business to thrive, which is exactly what the state was doing.
Udom expressed appreciation to God for helping the state to survive the recent three major recessions without distractions, continuing with infrastructures as well as paying workers salaries as at when due.
Appreciating his cabinet members, Udom said he enjoyed total support from the people of the state.
He recognised his family members as his pillar and his party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDPP, as his strength.
The Governor, who exclaimed that his six years as Governor had been the most hectic in all his life, gave kudos to the security chiefs, describing them as God-fearing hence the peace and serene atmosphere enjoyed by the people
