Good News On Tiger Woods As Recovery Improves

BEVERLY HILLS, March 10, (THEWILL) – Former world Number One golfer, Rory McIlroy, who is one of Tiger Woods’ best friends on the PGA Tour, has come out with encouraging tidings about the current situation of Woods after the latter’s horrific auto crash last month.

McIlroy confirmed that Woods is “doing better” and could be discharged from the hospital in the next week or thereabouts.

This came from McIlroy during an appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on Tuesday. While responding to questions about his friend’s condition, McIlroy said he had kept up communication with Woods since the 45-year-old was seriously injured in a rollover crash and that the news from Woods was clearly positive.

“He’s doing better,” Rory confirmed to Fallon. “Hopefully, if things go well over the next week or so, he might be able to get home and start recovery at home.”

It comes as an extremely positive update especially after it broke out last week that based on court documents obtained by the press, the man who first got to the mangled SUV found Woods unconscious, contrary to earlier reports from the sheriff’s office, as reported by THEWILL.

McIlroy went further to say that Woods has been in such good spirits during his recovery that he was even the one sending Rory encouragement. In a humorous bit, he claimed Woods even sent him some friendly trash talk over Rory’s performance at this past weekend’s Arnold Palmer Invitational in Florida.

With a cheeky smile, he told Fallon: “Even from the hospital bed, he’s still giving me some heat.”

The 15-time major champion has not spoken publicly since Sunday, February 28 when he thanked the pro golfers, including McIlory, who paid homage to him during their rounds by wearing red and black outfits as he so often did on Sundays.

“I just think all of us are wishing him a speedy recovery at this point,” McIlroy added.

During his hospitalization, the golf community, McIlroy included, showed their support for Woods. by wearing Woods’s signature red shirt and black pants during the final round of the WGC-Workday Championship in late February. Woods and McIlroy have kept in touch, including last weekend when the North Irishman climbed into contention at the Arnold Palmer Invitation.

Woods has been hospitalised since sustaining compound fractures in his right leg from a single-car crash in Southern California. His leg had to be stabilised using a rod inserted into his tibia, while screws and pins were inserted into his foot and ankle.

The 45-year-old first received care at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center before he was transferred to Cedars-Sinai Medical in Los Angeles three days later to undergo follow-up procedures. The news of him making good recovery as detailed by McIlroy is encouraging indeed.
