Golden State Warriors Lose again As Stephen Curry Remains Sidelined

BEVERLY HILLS, March 24, (THEWILL) – The ninth-placed side in the Western Conference of the NBA, the Golden State Warriors will be without pacesetting superstar Stephen Curry for no less than three games according to what head coach Steve Kerr told reporters after an MRI revealed inflammation in the tailbone the star injured recently.

He also said Curry will be re-evaluated in a week to determine his progress.

The Warriors are at a 22-22 win/loss record that reflects the general inconsistency they have displayed throughout the season and if not for Curry’s exertions, they would very likely be anchored near the bottom of the standings.

On Tuesday, this was again obvious. When the Warriors stormed back from what was once a 24-point deficit against the Philadelphia 76ers, it felt like one of the euphoric comeback wins the “We Believe” Warriors used to put together in the season they were champions.

However, it all unravelled in the fourth quarter as if they took their foot off the gas with no Curry to add spice to their play. They consistently failed to hit shots down the stretch and allowed the 76ers to make the run they needed to hand the Warriors a 108-98 loss in the end.

It has been a recurring feature for the Warriors this season, the inability to close out games after they have got their noses in front. And, with Curry out for at least another week, it is only going to be much harder.

In his 39 appearances this season, the two-time NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) has averaged 29 points and 6.2 assists while shooting 40.8 percent from beyond the arc. Curry remains more than capable of going supernova, as demonstrated in his January record 62-point night against the Portland Trail Blazers, as reported by THEWILL.

In fact, the superstar could have been set apart in the MVP standings if the rest of the Warriors team raised their game from the present mediocre standards. Klay Thompson’s season-ending injuries over the past two years highlighted this problem clearly as the team failed to hold on to leads and lost matches they should have otherwise won with Curry and Thompson in the lineup.

This state of affairs in the Club must be worrisome for coach Kerr because it would appear that even with a full-strength roster this season, it would be a struggle to avoid the play-in tournament. If Curry is out for a stretch of games, they could fall out of the playoff picture entirely in the Western Conference, and that will be what their performance deserves.
