June 04, (THEWILL) – GoFundMe has reportedly shut down the fundraiser claiming to raise money to help Amber Heard pay Johnny Depp some of the money she owes him following their defamation suit.
A jury of seven people reached a decision on Wednesday, in a defamation suit brought by Johnny Depp against his ex-wife.
He was awarded $10million compensation damage and $5million punitive damages which must be paid by Amber Heard.
In the wake of the jury’s verdict in Fairfax Virginia, a fundraiser titled “Justice For Amber Heard” was created by someone named Kimberly Moore on GoFundMe.
With a goal of $1million, the GoFundMe page claimed to want to help Heard pay Depp.
The page description said “I believe Amber and social media protected the abuser. The judgement exceeded her net worth. Its so sad that he was able to get away with the abuse.
“The judgement further that abuse. If you can please help her. She will have direct access to the money. I also contacted her attorney so they can loop her in.”
However, a spoke person for GoFundMe told TMZ they were able to flag the profile which was considered fake before a substantial amount of money was raised. The platform also plans to look for other fake pages and act accordingly.
