March 24, (THEWILL) – Baba Ganaru, has been appointed to head the technical division for Lobi Stars Football Club of Makurdi with immediate effect.

Coach Baba Ganaru, had tinkered with many Nigerian Professional Football Clubs including Kano Pillars, El’Kanemi of Maiduguri, Yobe Desert Stars and Wikki Tourists of Bauchi, among others.

A statement by Director of Media of the club, Uja Emmanuel, said Coach Ganaru has since assumed duty ahead of the second quarter of the Nigeria Professional Football League, reverse fixture which will see Lobi play host to Rangers International Football Club of Enugu at Aper Aku Stadium, Makurdi.

It was gathered that Coach Ganaru is already monitoring training for now, until next week, when he will be officially unveiled to members of SWAN and other stakeholders in the state.

“Unlike in the past, the Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Lobi Stars Football Club of Makurdi, Dominic Iorfa, shall unveil the new Head Coach before members of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), supporters of the club as well as football stakeholders in Benue state, inside the main bowl of Aper Aku Stadium Makurdi, next week.”

The chairman of the club, who is the Deputy Governor of Benue state, Engr Benson Abounu, was informed of the arrival of the new coach. The statement added.

Meanwhile, massive renovation work begins at McCarthy Stadium Wadata, Makurdi, where players of the club are to be accommodated, as illegal occupants of the complex have been directed to vacate the premises with immediate effect.

Mr Iorfa, as the then Vice Chairman of the Club, provided state-of-the-art facilities for the comfort of players there, but since he left the club, the stadium has been neglected by successive administrators and is now in a dilapidated condition.

It will be recalled that Governor Samuel Ortom on Tuesday, sacked the Emmanuel Tama-led management of the club, following poor outing in the current Premier League season, occupying 19th position on the log.

Lobi Stars, it was learnt had lost five matches in a row, even as the appointed three new board members of the club, Moses Kpakor, Alex Awuna and Chris Ikwe, from the three senatorial districts of the state have since assumed duty.

Iorfa was the Vice-chairman of the club for over twelve years and was replaced by Idoko and was sacked, thereby paving the way for the appointment of Emmanuel Tama, who performed below expectation.
