Fury Knocks Wilder Out To Retain WBC Crown

October 10, (THEWILL) – Tyson Fury retained his WBC heavyweight belt after 11 intense rounds that ended when he knocked out Deontay Wilder.
The British pugilist also had to twice pick himself up off the canvas, finishing the job with a spectacular right hand over the top following a gruelling and unforgettable bout in general.
As THEWILL reported, the two fighters at a verbal joust during their last press conference earlier this week, with Fury seizing on Wilder’s litany of excuses for his loss in the second fight.
In December 2018, the pair’s first fight ended in a draw after the British boxer famously rose off the canvas after seeming to be knocked out cold. The third fight was scheduled for July, but it was cancelled after Fury tested positive for COVID-19.
Both fighters got to test each other in the initial two rounds but in an exciting third round, Fury left his opponent sprawling on the canvas.
However, Wilder rebounded and the Briton found himself on the receiving end of the Bronze Bomber’s massive right hand twice in quick succession.
However, Fury showed resilience and Wilder was hanging on by the end of the seventh round. But, it was still a gruelling fight by the 10th, when Fury knocked him down again, before landing the knockout punch in the 11th to conclude this chapter of heavyweight boxing.
Fury’s exceptional all-around boxing talents made him a clear favourite among most fans. In his post-fight comments, Fury said: “It was a great fight tonight. It’s worthy of any trilogy in the history of the sport. I’m not gonna make any excuses, Wilder’s a tough fighter, he gave me a run for my money tonight. I always said I’m the best in the world and he’s the second best.”
