BEVERLY HILLS, April 1, (THEWILL) – Nigerian singer, Burna Boy, has been nominated for the 2021 BRIT Awards.
The Organisers of the award, who sometimes are referred to as the British version of the Grammys announced the nominees on Wednesday.
The self-acclaimed African giant was nominated for the ‘International Male Solo Artist’ category alongside The Weeknd, Bruce Springsteen, Childish Gambino and Tame Impala.
Other categories of the award are ‘Mastercard Album of the Year,’ ‘Song of the Year,’ ‘Best New Artist,’ ‘Male Solo Artist,’ ‘Female Solo Artist,’ ‘Best Group,’ ‘International Female,’ and ‘Rising Star.’
This year’s edition of the award ceremony is scheduled to hold on May 11 after the initial delay due to the coronavirus pandemic.
THEWILL writes that this is the second time the “Ye” crooner will be nominated for the BRIT Award.
Burna Boy was nominated for the same category last year for his 2019, ‘African Giant’, but lost to American singer-songwriter, Tyler The Creator.
It is also coming two weeks after ‘Twice as Tall’, his 2020 album, bagged the ‘Best Global Music Album’ category at the 2021 Grammy Awards.
