Augus 11, (THEWILL) – No fewer than six persons were alleged to have been attacked and killed by Fulani herdsmen, in Logo local government area in Benue state.

The council chairman of Logo local government area, Mrs Salome Tor, who confirmed the incident on Thursday, said twelve other people were badly injured during the unprovoked invasion.

According to her, corpses of the deceased victims have been deposited at the Primary Health Care Center in Ayilamo.

She said survivals were running helter-skelter, some of them have moved from the hinterlands to the Ayilamo town; saying the invasion took place that fateful Wednesday at about 9:00pm.

According to the Council boss, details of the incident, including the list of the death and pictures of the injured persons have been sent to the office of the Security Adviser to the Governor for information and necessary action.

A community leader, Chief Joseph Anawa, decried incessant attacks on the community, saying there was no sign of conflict between herders and farmers in recent times and wandered what would have prompted the attack.

He said, the invasion may have been an agenda to talk over land for grazing even with the prohibition of open grazing law in Benue state enacted since 2017.

Efforts to get the Police Public Relations Officer for Benue State Police Command, Sewuese Anene, proved abortive as at the time of filing this report.
