BEVERLY HILLS, March 30, (THEWILL) – Nigeria’s Federal Government has declared Friday 2nd April and Monday 5th April as public holidays to mark this year’s celebration of Easter by Christians.
Christians worldwide celebrate Easter in memory of the killing on “Good Friday” and resurrection on “Easter Sunday” of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Nigeria’s Minister of Interior,OgbeniRauf Aregbesola, on Tuesday announced the two days as holidays.
According to a Tuesday March 30, 2021 statement by the Director (Press and Public Relations) of the Ministry of Interior, Mohammed Manga, the Minister urged Christians to emulate the attributes of forbearance, forgiveness, kindness, humility, love, peace and patience, demonstrated by Jesus Christ.
Aregbesola, also, gave assurances that no efforts would be spared in the war against heinous crimes like kidnapping and armed banditry.
The Minister is quoted to have said: “Security is everybody’s business. I, therefore, encourage all Nigerians and foreigners resident in Nigeria, to display a high level of patriotism at this critical time in the history of our country, to support the efforts of all security agencies in ensuring peace and security of lives and property of the citizenry.”
