SAN FRANCISCO, October 07, (THEWILL) – Chief Solomon Daushep Lar, 80, a former Governor of Plateau State and pioneer Chairman of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is on life support in a London hospital, according to the Executive Secretary of the Solomon Lar Foundation, Mr. Major Adeyi.
Lar has been in and out of hospital receiving treatment for an undisclosed ailment.
There were speculations earlier in the day that the politician had died.
However, a news report in The Punch, a Nigerian newspaper, quoted Adeyi as saying that the politician was discharged from an undisclosed London hospital last week but his health deteriorated two days later and had to be readmitted at the facility.
“As I am talking to you now, he is on life support,” Adeyi said.
Lar was one of the early supporters of President Goodluck Jonathan when he ran for President in 2011.
He was Governor of Plateau State under the platform of the defunct Nigerian Peoples Party (NPP) from October 1, 1979 to December 31, 1983, when a military coup led by General Muhammadu Buhari truncated democracy.
