Football Transfer Updates As Window Shuts In Europe

GTBCO FOOD DRINL

BEVERLY HILLS, October 05, (THEWILL) – On this Monday, as the window for transfers shuts across the European continent, last ditch efforts are underway by European clubs to get the players they need to prosecute their 2020/2021 objectives. THEWILL has the latest scoops.

Lyon: Sciglio

Mattia De Sciglio is moving to Lyon, the French Ligue 1 for the rest of this season as Juventus has confirmed. The defender moves in a deal that does not include an option to buy at the end of the season. The 24-year-old full back made 62 appearances for Juve since arriving from Milan in 2017 and has been part of the team that won the Serie A title in each of his three seasons with the Bianconeri. Coach Andrea Pirlo of Juventus expects some new additions to his squad before the end of the window especially with Federico Chiesa, the Italian who plays for Fiorentina.

Olympiacos: Vinagre

Wolverhampton Wanderers have loaned their left back Ruben Vinagre to Olympiacos for the 2020/2021 season with an option for the Greek side to make the move permanent. The Portuguese footballer joined Wolves on loan from Monaco ahead of the 2017/2018 season when coach Nuno Espirito Santo’s boys romped to the Championship title. The deal was made permanent upon their promotion to the Premier League and Vinagre has served as a back up to Jonny Otto. But with the arrival of Lyon defender Marcal and the recent addition of Rayan Ait Nouri from Angers competition in the left back position has heightened and it was deemed best for him to get playing time elsewhere.

Bayern: Costa

Douglas Costa is another loanee making the move for the season. After a successful spell with Bayern Munich between 2015 and 2017, the Brazilian returns to the Bundesliga giants on a season-long loan. Coming from Juventus, the 30-year-old made 103 appearances for the Bianconeri across all competitions and scored 10 goals. He will be Bayern’s third signing in two days following the deals that brought in Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting on a free transfer and Marc Roca from Espanyol for a reported €15 million.

Arsenal: Partey

The Premier League club Arsenal are making a last-ditch bid for Thomas Partey, the Atletico Madrid midfielder. Their manager, Mikel Arteta, has been keen to add a new central midfielder to his team throughout this window but without much success. Partey was a primary target but the trail went cold towards the summer and alternatives like Lyon’s Houssem Aouar and Chelsea’s Jorginho have been mentioned. However, none of those deals have materialised either. Partey’s combative attributes appear more suited to what Arsenal require and as the clock ticks towards the deadline, it appears they have returned to make it a reality. THEWILL knows that Atletico have been insistent on accepting nothing less than his £45 million release clause. How this new move will work remains to be seen as the window closes.

Paris Saint-Germain: Pereira

Porto captain Danilo Pereira has joined French champions Paris Saint-Germain on loan just a day after PSG signed Moise Kean. PSG got the deal with an option to sign the Portuguese midfielder at the end of the season. Pereira joined Porto from Maritimo in 2015 and has gone on to make 202 appearances for the club with whom he won the Primeira Liga in 2018 and again last season. The PSG manager Thomas Tuchel, who has his sights on the evasive Champions League trophy believes these signings will strengthen the squad for the challenges ahead domestically and in Europe.

There are still some deals coming up in the final hours of the window like Edinson Cavani and Alex Telles to Manchester United, Memphis Depay to Barcelona, the reported Partey move to Arsenal (above), Federico Chiesa to Juventus and Houssem Aouar to either Arsenal, Juventus or Paris Saint-Geramian. THEWILL will be on them as soon as a move happens on this day full of a flurry of transfer activity across footballing Europe.
