January 08, (THEWILL) – The Federal government of Nigeria is set to build a Cinematography Centre in Asaga, Ohafia, Ohafia local government area of Abia State.
The building when it is completed will serve as an audiovisual resource development center, film entrepreneurial digital hub, and film village.
During the foundation laying ceremony, senator Orji Uzor Kalu, who was represented by the retired permanent secretary of Abia State governor, Reverend Jemima Ola Kalu stated that the project is an attempt by the Federal government to develop the South East through several on going projects across the zone.
Kalu enjoined citizens of the state to continue supporting the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari in a bid to fast track development in the country.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Film Corporation, Dr Chidia Maduekwe said the decision to site the centre in the area was informed by the cultural capacity of the area, it’s diversity and nearness to other part of the country including South- South geopolitical zone.
He said budgetary provision has been made to cater for the project while funding partners including those from France and Germany are eager to see the centre commense operations to help make Nigerian youths wealth creators.
