SAN FRANCISCO, January 19, (THEWILL) – Governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose, has emerged as the new chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors’ forum.

This was disclosed by Governor of Bayelsa state, Seriake Dickson, while addressing journalists at the end of the forum’s meeting in Abuja,

He said Fayose was chosen because he is the most senior governor in the opposition party.

Fayose, accepting the nomination vowed to “pull down the wall of Jericho” surrounding the party as he described his emergence as a call to service, promising not to let the party down.

He also promised to mobilise PDP members across the nation of the 2019 general election and assured the party that states lost in previous elections would be reclaimed.

Fayose, who was first elected governor in 2003, but was impeached before the end of his tenure, succeeds Olusegun Mimiko, Governor of Ondo, whose tenure ends in February.

Among all Governors under the platform of the PDP, Fayose has been a thorn in the flesh for the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC). He contested the 2014 election and defeated APC’s Kayode Fayemi, the then incumbent.
