June 13, (THEWILL)- In a fresh update of the condition of Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen, who collapsed in a Euros 2020 football match against Finland on Saturday, the Dansk Boldspil-Union (Danish Football Association) has confirmed that Eriksen spoke to his Denmark teammates, which is a comforting development.

The association also assured the public that the midfielder remains stable in hospital as he is being monitored. THEWILL recalls that Eriksen collapsed during the first half of Saturday’s continental competition opener against Finland in Copenhagen.

As part of the process to resuscitate him, the Dane required emergency CPR treatment on the pitch where he dropped prior to being rushed to Rigshospitalet for proper medical attention.

Doctor Morten Boesen of the Danish medical team who were on hand to rush onto the scene stated that the player was unconscious at the time they reached him supine body on the pitch but they were able to act quickly to revive him.

Assurance of Eriksen’s stable condition came from the Boldspil-Union. In a tweet via their official handle, the Sunday morning post read, in part: “His condition is stable and he continues to be hospitalised for further examination.

“This morning we have spoken to Christian, who has sent his greetings to his team-mates. His condition is stable, and he continues to be hospitalised for further examination. The team and staff of the national team has received crisis assistance and will continue to be there for each other after yesterday’s incident.

“We would like to thank everyone for their heartfelt greetings to Christian Eriksen from fans, players, the Royal families from both Denmark and England, international associations, club etc.”

This was particularly important as heartfelt wishes and consolatory messages came from around the sporting community with former teammates and old clubs and leagues of the 29-year-old joining his Danish teammates to wish him a speedy recovery.

A pre-match conference scheduled to feature Gareth Southgate and Harry Kane of the English team was cancelled in a show of solidarity for a player who was a key part of the English Premier League with the years he spent in north London playing for Tottenham Hotspur from 2013 to 2020.

The stable condition of the midfielder led to the decision of the Danish and Finnish sides to finish the match which Finland won in their first game at a major finals by a 1-0 scoreline thanks to a Joel Pohjanpalo header.
