Fabio Paratici Confirmed As Tottenham’s Football MD

June 12, (THEWILL)- English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday confirmed the appointment of Italian Fabio Paratici as the new Managing Director of Football of the club, even as the club completes the fine details of settling their manager vacancy with Paulo Fonseca.

THEWILL had earlier reported that Paratici’s confirmation was imminent.

The new Italian appointee comes with an impressive resume and solid football management reputation based on his time at Juventus, where he earned a name for himself as a player-transfer specialist.

By the terms of his engagement with Spurs, Paratici will begin work at the club on July 1. As the MD of football, it will be his responsibility to manage and develop the sporting operations, facilities and footballing infrastructure at the north London outfit, a responsibility that had been the club Chairman’s sole preserve for a long while.

Part of the major previous experience of the 48-year-old was in Turin, where for 11 years with Juve, he worked, first as Technical Area Coordinator, before becoming Sports Director in 2011, a position he held demonstrably well until May 26, this year.

At Tottenham, Paratici will relish the challenge of operating in the competitive strata of the EPL, while assisting in the improvements that club chairman, Daniel Levy, is attempting to orchestrate for the side in a bid to make them more competitive, while challenging for trophies.

In his remarks about his appointment, Paratici said: “I am thrilled by this fantastic opportunity and I thank the club and the chairman for the trust in me.

“Tottenham is one of the top clubs in the UK and in Europe with an ambitious long-term plan. I will dedicate all myself to this new venture and look forward to working with the management team to write a new and hopefully successful chapter in the club history.”

Levy added: “I’ve known Fabio for a number of years and he brings with him a wealth of experience in scouting, youth and football operations.

“He has an outstanding track record in assembling competitive squads. As we all know, Juventus have been a highly successful club and he has been a major part of that.

“He will be a great addition to the management structure. I am delighted that he will be heading up the football side of the club as we look ahead to next season.”
