September 26, (THEWILL) – Following the upheaval that characterised his once rocky marriage barely a few years after it was contracted and his business concern Made on Earth, which he ran with his friends, Yemi Ishola, folded up, Eyo Effiong went into social oblivion without warning. In his time, Eyo dominated the Lagos social scene with fervor. High octane parties were never really complete without him there to provide the spice. And then he met Apinke, got love struck and married her. Not long afterwards, issues set in between them. The acrimony that characterised the union was such that both resolved to stay married but live separately.
Eyo took off to Abuja where he found a home and began to miss out on the fast-paced Lagos social life. When he is not spending his time selling luxury bulletproof cars and tending to his oil and gas business, he is in London where his wife, Apinke, resides with their children. Her own business concern, a floral event design company, Jasmine Rose Design, which she floated shortly after their marriage, has since been abandoned. Things remained this way until he made a surprising comeback at the 57th birthday party of EbonyLife TV boss, Mo Abudu, two weeks ago.
Dressed in a black ensemble, Eyo breezed into Ebonylife Place, the venue of the party, into the warm embrace of friends and associates with whom he dominated the Lagos social scene long before the days of social media. There was a lot of back-slapping, handshakes and visits down memory lane. It remains to be seen if this new and reinvigorated Eyo is back to stay or if his attendance was just a cameo.
