December 27, (THEWILL) – The Ethiopian senior men’s national football team was the first to arrive in Cameroon for the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations 2021 finals, which will begin on January 9, 2022.
The delegation arrived at Yaounde’s Nsimalen International Airport on Sunday, December 26, 2021. Prior to checking into their team hotel, players, technical staff, and FA executives took on-arrival COVID-19 tests at the airport.
A training session at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Annex 1 Stadium was completed by Coach Wubetu Abate and his team.
For the first time since 2013, the Walias are back in the competition. They have only one AFCON championship to their name, which they won in 1962.
Ethiopia is drawn in Group A with Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, and Cameroon, the hosts.
After the opening match between hosts Cameroon on January 9, they will face Cape Verde and then finish the group stages against Burkina Faso on January 17.
