September 22, (THEWILL) – The Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Bayelsa State Governor on Tourism, Mr. Piriye Kiyaramo, has said that good entertainment drives visitor satisfaction and re-visitation, adding that providing an entertaining experience for visitors and tourists, is absolutely critical for visitor satisfaction.
Mr. Kiyaramo, who made the assertion when the organisers of the maiden edition of an event tagged “Bayelsa Entertainment Festival”, paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Yenagoa, Wednesday, noted that entertainment experience could make the single greatest contributor to the overall visitor satisfaction in a destination if properly planned and executed.
While stressing the need for tour operators and cultural organisations to incorporate entertainment into their packages, in order to stay alive in business, the governor’s aide reiterated the fact that entertainment value driving visitor satisfaction is cut-and-dry.
He said while it is clear that providing an entertaining experience may be more important for satisfying visitors, the truth still remains that providing education and entertainment are both important to our visitors, and knowing exactly how these elements contribute to the visitor experience may help inform future strategies to achieve quality customer service.
According to the SSA, “entertainment is a form of activity that holds the attention and interest of an audience or gives pleasure and delight. It can be an idea or a task, but is more likely to be one of the activities or events that have developed over thousands of years specifically for the purpose of keeping an audience’s attention.”
He noted that entertainment has always been an integral part of life, adding that it breathes oxygen into life when it seems bleak due to hectic schedules or unbearable responsibilities.
“Entertaining activities can refresh our mind and preserve our mental health, as well as emotional well-being. It brings happiness into our lives. Some of these activities may even bring us closer to our friends and family members. Therefore, entertainment can be beneficial in many ways”, he explained.
Earlier, the Chief Executive Officer of Believe Entertainment Company, organisers of the Bayelsa Entertainment Festival, Mr Daniel Emerson, said the event which will take place at Blue Diner Event Centre, kpansia-Yenagoa on Friday, September 23rd, 2022, by 4 pm, was put together by his organisation in collaboration with some local artistes to positively engage young talented persons in the areas of music, dance, games, drama, comedy cinematography with a view to identifying talents for mentoring.
Also speaking, the Event/Talent Manager, Miss Mumomoipre Bio-Ibogomo, thanked the Miracle Governor, Senator Douye Diri, for his youth-friendly policies and programmes while appealing for support, saying that the event was targeted at removing more youths from the street to get gainful employment through job creation.
Recall that the entertainment activities of leisure tourists constitute a significant component of the tourism experience.
An entertainment destination is defined as a venue where people go to enjoy entertainment activities, such as concerts, musicals, medieval festivals, magic performances, circus, comedy, sports events, theatre, dancing, clubbing, and theme park visit.
