November 13, (THEWILL) – Participating children at the National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFEST), along with their coordinators and some dignitaries, became tourists for four hours at the Lagos State Government House, Marina.
The tour began at the open field where the children and other guests were given a brief history of the place and its relationship with the colonial era.
Speaking on the theme; ‘Culture and Peaceful Co-existence’, the wife of Lagos State Governor, Mrs Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, advised the children to show love to one another and strictly imbibe the act of living in peace with one another.
She also advised the children to be ambassadors of peace and unity and reminded the Children that without peace the development of Nigeria will continue to be a mirage and progress elusive.
Mrs Sanwo-Olu said the decision to host the children at the state house was to give them a sense of history, pointing out that having the knowledge of their history will help in shaping their future.
Director General of the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC), Otunba Olusegun Runsewe, described the wife of the state Governor as a compassionate woman and applauded her for taking time off to entertain the Nigerian children.
The event witnessed dance competitions in which the children were rewarded with tablet devices while those who came first, second and third received a laptop each.
Precious Inioluwa Olabanjo, an SS2 student of Model Secondary School, Alagbaka, Akure, Ondo state, who came to Eko Nafest to represent her school and state in the essay competition, had the highest point.
