Ekiti: Tribunal Removes Adeyeye As Senator, Declares Olujimi Winner

BEVERLY HILLS, September 10, (THEWILL) – The Election Petition Tribunal handling electoral disputes in Ekiti State has sacked Senator Dayo Adeyeye of the All Progressives Congress, APC and Chairman, Senate Committee on Media, as Senator Representing Ekiti South Senatorial District.

The tribunal declared a former Minority leader and the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Biodun Olujimi winner of the February 23, 2019 poll and ordered INEC to issue him a certificate of return.

Delivering judgment, the 3-man tribunal, led by Justice D.D. Adeck declared Olujimi winner after nullifying elections in some polling units in the district leaving the PDP candidate with a total of 54,894 ahead of Adeyeye who polled 52,243.

The electoral law grants Adeyeye the right to appeal the ruling at the Court of Appeal.
