March 15, (THEWILL) – Dr Ekeng Edet, the winner of the Akpabuyo State Constituency bye-elections in Cross River State, has been sworn in.
Dr Ekeng was sworn in by the speaker of the State House of Assembly, Eteng Jonah Williams, and took the Oath of Office as well as Oath of Allegiance.
The PDP representative, succeeds Hon Elizabeth Ironbar, who passed away, following an undisclosed ailment.
He is the seventh member of the People’s Democratic Party in the house, following the defection of other members to the ruling APC.
He polled 5,866 votes to defeat the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, who scored 5,363 votes in the keenly contested bye-elections.
Speaking after his inauguration, Dr Ekeng said he has the capacity to offer effective representation to his Constituency.
