August 15, (THEWILL) – Edward Dada Larunsi, a seasoned journalist has been appointed as the Baale of Sorobi, Obada -Oko community in Abeokuta Ogun State by the governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun. He was appointed last week after several weeks of deliberation by the Chief in Council responsible for approving the new leaders in the community. His coronation would take place on the first Saturday of September, 2022.
Before his appointment, Larunsi had put in three decades of work as a journalist for various platforms. He later established Expo Plus Magazine, an entertainment and political magazine in 2006. Before his appointment, Sorobi Obada-Oko had been witnessing the notorious activities of land grabbers, kidnappers and cultists which necessitated the need to appoint a community head to oversee the activities of the community and ensure law and order is restored to the community. With his appointment, the trained journalist has promised to restore order and ensure peaceful co-existence among indigenes. The chief in council has also promised the new Baale that his title would be elevated to that of a traditional ruler once the Alake of Egba and the state government gives the approval.
