February 24, (THEWILL) – When the two West African football heavyweights Nigeria and Ghana meet next month, one of the Super Eagles’ defenders, Tyronne Ebuehi, is expected to miss the crucial double-header Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup playoffs versus Ghana.
According to the results of his injury scans, Ebuehi could be out for a long time after incurring the injury in Venezia’s 1-1 draw with Genoa over the weekend.
Following his dismissal against Napoli’s Victor Osimhen in the first week of February as THEWILL reported, Ebuehi had only just returned to the squad and replaced Domen rnigoj at halftime at the Stadio Pierluigi Penzo in Venezia.
The 26-year-old, however, only lasted thirty minutes before being subbed off due to a knock to his left leg. According to the results of the tests performed on Ebuehi, the Super Eagles defender has a lesion in his left semitendinosus muscle.
This indicates that the dynamic fullback could be absent for several weeks, possibly until the end of the international break. Ebuehi will, by implication, miss the two-legged playoffs against the Black Stars scheduled for March 25, in Ghana, and March 29, in Nigeria.
The on-loan Benfica defender was a member of the Super Eagles’ team for the TotalEnergies 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, making one appearance against Guinea-Bissau in a 2-0 victory at the group stage of the competition.
