January 08, (THEWILL) – Tyronne Ebuehi of Benfica has finally joined his Super Eagles teammates as a late arrival to the Nigeria squad for the TotalEnergies 2021 Africa Cup of Nations AFCON in Cameroon.
The other twenty-five players in camp worked out in Garoua on Saturday under the careful eyes of the temporary Nigeria caretaker head coach Augustine Eguavoen.
Ebuehi was a late addition to the squad as a result of Omonia Nicosia defender Abdullahi Shehu’s injury, but he was unable to join the team earlier owing to club commitments.
As THEWILL reported, the Super Eagles ramped up their preparations for their Group D opener against the Pharaohs of Egypt with a 2-0 win over Coton Sport FC de Garoua, the 15-time Cameroonian champions, in a warm-up friendly match on Friday.
To address the loopholes that Eguavoen identified from that win, including fatigue and movement with or without possession, the squad will play an in-house match against one another before their January 11 match against Egypt.
