DSS Invade Tukur Mamu’s House, Cart Away Phones, Documents

September 08, (THEWILL) – Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have invaded the residence of Tukur Mamu, a frontline hostage negotiator and Media Consultant to controversial Islamic Cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi.

The operatives reportedly invaded his residence in the early hours of Thursday and left with documents, phones and laptops.

According to Daily Trust, Mamu’s family members within the apartment were “asked to sign documents they did not read” before carting them away.

THEWILL had reported that Mamu, who was arrested on Wednesday, in Cairo, Egypt, was indicted over ransom racketeering and relationship with terrorists in the northeastern extremity of Egypt.

But Mamu, upon his arrest on Wednesday and immediate deportation, accused the Federal Government of orchestrating his arrest with claims he was only on his way to Saudi Arabia for lesser Hajj with his wives, eldest son and brother-in-law.

Speaking earlier, Mamu said he left Nigeria Tuesday and after being investigated by the Egyptian security agencies, nothing incriminating was found in his possession.

He alleged a failed plot by the Nigerian government to detain him in another country just as was done to Sunday Igboho, adding that the Egyptian government found that his papers were genuine.

The publisher of the Desert Herald Newspaper in Kaduna was known to have kicked off a negotiation with the terrorists that abducted at least 62 passengers of an inbound Kaduna-Abuja train on March 28.

Although Mamu had reportedly backed out from the negotiation, following an alleged threat to his life by the Federal Government.

At least 46 victims of the incident have been released including a Pakistani, speculated to have paid a huge sum for his freedom, alongside others.

Mamu had constantly debunked such reports, with claims that all releases by terrorists were achieved through dialogue.
