June 09, (THEWILL)- A fatal motor accident at the Birninkudu Local Government Area of Jigawa State has claimed the lives of 18 people, the State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Lawan Shisu, disclosed on Wednesday.
The accident, according to reports, occured at about 6:30 a.m on Wednesday, after two “Hummer” buses had a head-on collision at Malam Alyssa Farm, along the along Birninkudu-Kano road, about 10 kilometres to Birninkudu town.
Confirming the incident, ASP Adam said, “Today, two 18-seater Hummer buses from opposite directions had a head-on collision, as a result, they went up in flames where 12 peoples got burnt beyond recognition.
“Six people were confirmed dead instantly. Their corpses have been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre, BirninKudu.”
According to him, one of the drivers survived, and was in the hospital receiving treatment.
