Draws For FIFA Club World Cup Qatar Held in Zurich

BEVERLY HILLS, January 19, (THEWILL) – On Tuesday, the official draws for the pairings for February’s FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2020 were held at the home of world football governing body FIFA in Zurich, mapping out the road to global glory for the six clubs competing in the World Cup.

Based on the outcome of the draw, Tigres UANL of Mexico will contend against South Korea’s Ulsan Hyundai FC in the first game, which is scheduled for 4 February at 17:00 local time (14:00 GMT) at the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium in Umm Al Afaei.

On the same day in Education City, the team representing the hosts Qatar, Al Duhail SC, will play against the most decorated football club in the world, Egypt’s Al Ahly SC, at 20:30 (17:30 GMT). This fixture promises to excite football fans across the African continent with the only continental contingent going head to head with the local favourites in Doha.

Whichever side comes out on top in the Tigres versus Ulsan tie will clash with the Copa Libertadores champions for the semi-finals. For now, it is not certain which team that will be because the final of the competition Copa Libertadores is billed for Saturday, January 30 between Palmeiras and Santos.

In the other semi-final, the winner of the Al Duhail and Al Ahly fixture will take on Bundesliga giants FC Bayern München. The Egyptians will be the favourites to qualify and a semi-final between Al Ahly and Bayern will be a tricky one for football fans to say outright which of either side will reach the final.

Whichever side makes it to the end will be crowned the Qatar 2020 champions after the final at Education City Stadium on 11 February, with kick-off at 21:00 (18:00 GMT).
