July 07, (THEWILL) – Actress cum Master of Ceremony, Doyin Kukoyi, has berated National Hajj Commission in Nigeria, over maltreatment meted on her and some Nigerians who are going on Hajj.
She took to social media and uploaded a video she made at the airport.
According to her, a lot of people paid for the Hajj trip a long time ago, but their visas were released on Saturday.
They arrived at the airport on Sunday morning around 4am, only to be told that the air space had been shut.
But NAHCON promised to provide a rescue flight. After waiting endlessly, they were told to go to Abuja.
People had to pay between N76,000 to N125,000 for one way flight to Abuja.
When they got there, they were made to wait endlessly again, despite the fact that there were elderly people among them.
NAHCON, thereafter, requested for another N750,000 from each passenger. The elderly people who couldn’t afford the sum called their children to contribute money and send to them. While others gave up and returned home.
She revealed that while they were been prevented from boarding their flight, some military personnel’s wives walked in majestically and they allowed them to board a flight.
Kukoyi added that each person paid N3 million just to travel to Hajj and the fee is not part of the extra money they were told to pay at the last minute. Yet, they were prevented from boarding their flight.
Officers kept lying and using delay tactics despite the fact that everyone one had valid visas.
She called on Nigerians to come to their rescue and promised to drag the necessary authorities because of the maltreatment meted on them.
