BEVERLY HILLS, July 24, (THEWILL) – Nigerian-British professional boxer, Anthony Joshua, has advised Iron Mike Tyson, a former heavyweight champion, to steer clear of the heavyweight division even though he admires the retired boxer’s workout video.

Tyson, who is making a comeback to the ring at 54 (last fight was in 2005), is billed to fight Roy Jones Jr, who last fought two years ago.

Joshua, who is a two-time unified heavyweight champion, having held the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO since December 2019 and previously between 2016 and June 2019, advised Tyson to choose his opponents from those from his era, warning that he should not even contemplate taking on any of the current kings.

Joshua spoke with Sky Sports. He said: “I think it’s for a passion from them both, it’s what they’ve known.

“Mike Tyson has been fighting since he was like 13 years old, Roy Jones, his dad pushed him to become a great.

“Good luck to them both, it’s all they know.”

“They haven’t got to do it to compete with the young lions in the division now.

“We’re bigger, we’re stronger, sports science has improved so there is more technology.

“The whole sporting world has kind of developed.

“If Mike Tyson wants to come back and fight someone from his era for the love of the sport, crack on, I wish them well.”
