July 12, (THEWILL) – Big Brother Naija Star, Uriel Oputa, has revealed why it is unhealthy to compare life with that of others.
The reality star turned chef, narrated how she used to admire one of her friends in school because of her possession.
She used to feel bad that her mother doesn’t give her as many things as the ones her friend used to bring to school.
She decided to follow her friend out one day and discovered that she used to steal things from a store.
“The biggest mistake you can make is to compare yourself to your friends.
“I remember in school that I was pissed that my friend had the latest makeup.
“I used to wonder why my mum would give me just enough to buy the cheapest clear gloss, nothing like what my friend has.
“I was even embarrassed to use the lip gloss around my friends.
“One day after school, my friend and I went to a popular makeup store. What I experienced made me feel grateful.
“I saw my friend steal make-up. She tried to show me how to do it. But as correct Naija babe wey dey calculate the beating, I froze.
“I saw the security guard walking towards me. He walked past me and said, we have your friend.
“Leave now, I ran home. So, all these while I have been comparing myself to this girl.
“Please, I’m better off with my cheap lip gloss. Fast forward to now, I have all manner of designer lip gloss you can think of.
“Moral of the story, gold and dirt can be dug up together”, she stated.
